Monroe, NY - Making good on his word that he would deliver a “peaceful protest,” Assemblyman James Skoufis and some 80 others arrived on the Monroe/Woodbury town line yesterday as work resumed on the KJ Pipeline.
MIDHUDSONNEWS.com is reporting that the pipeline was scheduled to cross into the town of Woodbury on Monday.
Skoufis said the sole purpose of the protest was to let people express their opposition to the project.
One protester, Schlome Katz, said he joined the protest, not only because he is against the pipeline, but because of the way Kiryas Joel is going about the project.
Katz said the way KJ is proceeding is “against the Jewish faith.”
A spokesman for the village, Ari Felberman, said protesters are more than welcome to come and express their views, just so long as they do not interfere with construction.
